Monday (2.3r | 0.8w) Better than yesterday. Almost skipped the run - worn out from yard work. Tuesday (2.6r | 1.2w) 7:51 p.m. run after eating dinner. Busy day - extra 1.5 hours of work. Neighborhood run - a little further, a little faster. Thursday (3.1r | 1.0w) Neighborhood. Work is wearing me down. Forced myself to stop so that I could run. Friday (3.2r | 0.6w) Faster pace - pushed it well enough. Out towards CV Hills via Apache and back. Some kids - middle schoolers by the looks of it - said, “Hey, you’re that runner!” I guess I’m slow enough now that it seems like I’m always out there. Saturday (3.7r | 0.4w) This morning I woke up from a running dream. I was back in high school and the Track coach was announcing the team members for each event. Parents were in the peripherals of the dream and they cheered on the kids. Perhaps this was only me, but back then it seemed the sprints, hurdles and jumps were the only popular events. The distance runners and weight men\women were easily forgotten. It was no surprise, then, that as the 3200m was finally announced, everyone had already left and it was just me, the coach, and 2 others who were cleaning up the area. As I walked off, ignored and forgotten, the dream faded into darkness and I woke up.

Saturday (0.4w) No running- this is more like a food log than a training log. So here it goes - 1 Clif Bar for breakfast, 3 ½ chili dogs and potato chips for lunch, and 2 servings of pot roast, mashed potatoes, cornbread + 1 serving veggies for dinner. Oh, and 1 cup of coffee, 16 oz Dr. Pepper, 32 oz water, 12 oz GG Pineapple, and 4 Toffee cookies. Ugh! Sunday (2.2r | 0.6w) Two is better than nothing. Upper 70’s and humid. Neighborhood run. 4.3 Miles Running | 3.9 Miles Walking | 8.2 Miles Total Monday (2.1r | 0.6w) Easy does it. Right knee and left foot still out of whack - stopped me at 1/10 of a mile into the run. Ran very easy - similar to a slight jog done after a set of hard intervals or a race.
Wednesday (2.9r | 1.7w) Easy around the neighborhood. Just a little sore from yesterday’s fall - nothing serious. Nice chat with a neighbor that lives down the street; met him for the first time. John says he sees me running @ CVGC. Told him to waive me down the next time - we’ll run together! Thursday (3.1r | 1.3w) Neighborhood run. Tried out a new running shirt - the Korsa Ventilate from Road Runner Sports. I usually run with cotton T’s but it’s time I start switching to gear that offers UV protection if running while the sun is still out. The Korsa is UPF 50 so it should offer adequate protection. Nice design and almost fits perfectly - the sleeves are a little long and overall it weighs on the heavy side. However, it wicked away the sweat quite well. Wearing it at sunset worked alright, however, the real test will be mid-day with the sun out. Saturday (3.2r | 0.5w) Start slow and sleepy @ CVGC. Mod @ 1 mile and mod+ by 2. Worn out, no energy. Working in the garage all day took its toll on me. Sunday (5.4r | 1.5w) Celebrated Father’s Day with a run to Eastlake. Too much exhaust along the main roads. Many homeless are heading to Eastlake; I think there’s a shelter or food distribution out there.. One lady made a stabbing motion as our paths crossed - would’ve gutted me if she was holding a blade. 19.0 Miles Running | 6.8 Miles Walking | 25.8 Miles Total Monday (2.0r | 1.6w) Finally got a run in - not too bad - went slow around the neighborhood. Brief chat with a runner new to the area. Hadn’t seen her before. Tuesday (3.3r | 1.1w) Mod- running Apache \ RDR Park. Wednesday (3.2r | 0.7w) CVGC. Left shoe not set - pain in foot and left calf. Thursday Woke up with my left knee hurting. Must have been the uneven footing on the sandy parts of the golf course. Friday (0.2w) Still hurting. Finished the March issue of UltraRunning Magazine.
